Welcome back ladies and gents – it is great to see so many keen anglers, old and new, enjoying the fishing this last month after a long lockdown.
In recent weeks we’ve seen a real mixed bag of weather from rain to blistering hot, strong winds – well you name it! But has it taken away from the fishing? I would have to say NO as fish have been caught in large numbers with some big lumpy doubles coming out of both lakes and a lot of big smiles from people pleased to be back out enjoying what they love.
It’s great to be bringing you a Fishing Report again after the lockdown, we plan to get them out at least fortnightly going forward. If there’s anything you’d like us to add to them then please get in touch with us direct at email@example.com
A very big thanks to all of you for returning to take part in the sport that we all love here at Kilnsey. It has been fantastic to see you all again.
Leigh and the Fly Fishery Team
|Water temperature at 1ft depth:||11.4°C|
|Water quality:||Clear with some weed growth (being dealt with)|
|Most number of fish caught:||150 – caught on opening day Monday 18th – this has to be a record, the fishing gods were definitely smiling on this chap, bet he was playing them in his sleep!|
|Best fish recorded:||16lb Rainbow|
|Caught on:||Apps Bloodworm|
|Top Tactics and Flies:||Top tactic has been small Black Buzzers fished 2ft under an indicator – this smashed it. Also Apps worms, Suspender Buzzers, Diawl Bachs – all in black as we’ve seen lots of midge hatches on the lakes and plenty of tadpoles in too. We have had some really good hatches of sedge so Elk and CdC Retirer Sedge did very well on the surface with Beetles accounting for plenty of fish too, and of course the good old Blue Flash Damsel and orange lures doing the business.|
|Stocking details this month:||490 fish stocked, mostly rainbows 2.5 to 16lb|
