Introduction to Fly Fishing course
Update – Please see below for the current 2021 course dates.
This one day course is for those with little or no experience in Fly Fishing. It gives you a really enjoyable day out, while providing all the basic skills and information needed to enable you to start fly fishing for yourself.
You even get to take a fish home with you – filleted if you like, and an exclusive booklet to remind you of the day and the techniques that you learned.
You also receive a half full loyalty card which when full entitles you to a free 4 hour ticket or a half price 8 hour ticket.
At only £95 for adults they make great presents, and we can issue attractive named gift certificates. We can leave the dates open if bought as a gift.
The courses are run with a maximum of 4 attendees to 1 professional instructor. They run from 9.30am to 4pm.
Please note that these courses are only open to 16+ years. If you would like to introduce a youngster to the sport we now offer Parent & Child Fishing Experiences and also personal 1:1 tuition with a qualified coach – please contact us for further details.

Is fishing tackle provided on the course?
Yes, everything you need is provided.
Do I need an Environment Agency Rod Licence?
You do not need a rod licence, as all our courses are run by an Angling Trust Licensed Game Angling Coach (see details below) so for the duration of the course you will be covered under their EA Fishing Licence.
The rules/requirements associated with the EA Fishing Licence will be discussed during the course.
What else do I need to bring?
Sunglasses or polaroids (even if it is cloudy they are needed) and a hat . Also suitable clothing for the weather on the day – the Dales weather can be quite changeable!
What is an Angling Trust Licenced Game Angling Coach?
The Angling Trust is the National Governing Body for angling in England, and is the only organisation that offers a coaching licence. This proves to parents, children, groups, organisations and others that the Licenced Coach is appropriately qualified and regularly engages in training in order to maintain the highest possible coaching standards. It also gives them assurance that the Licenced Coach has:
- had full and appropriate safeguarding checks completed and has been risk assessed;
- a valid and current 1st Aid Certificate
- Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance cover to the sum of £5m
Once I am booked on a course can I change the date?
